It’s all about crowdsourcing
Crowdsourcing has taken over the process of creative production: the skills of talented illustrators, writers, designers, and all-round creative types collaborate more frequently at an international level to produce a range of material; from magazines to t-shirts. Blogs were a catalyst for the change in production techniques, acting as an online portfolio to easily access creative work – an instantaneous connection to the artist. Luckily, the new generation of creative producers understand the power of the blog.

It’s the third time I’ve called the infamous Purple Institute, the publishing house of Purple, the avant garde fashion magazine. My enquiry is strictly business: I’m calling on behalf of CIRCUS, a bookazine dedicated to fashion, to obtain an interview with the Editor in Chief, Olivier Zahm.
Breaking the norm
It is now five minutes until midnight. A glowing neon-pink light illuminates the room while the sound of tapping keyboards echoes through the two-storey office. It is the seventh night in a row the staff at Herznote have stayed in the office long after the summer sun has set. But, with good reason. Tomorrow, the publishing company will print their first bookazine – a new genre combining the best elements of the book and magazine.
