The young photographer, Nicola Levin, is featured on Dazed Digital this week, showcasing photographs that document the party scene. Meanwhile, US Vogue’s creative director, Grace Coddington, has announced she will begin working on her memoirs.

But the focus of late has been on the autumn/winter 2010/11 campaigns infiltrating the blogosphere. Zara has released their new lookbook. But personally, our favourites are Miu Miu and Filippa K’s promotional videos.

We still can’t get over the fact that there is now an opportunity to design your own shoes at a reasonable cost thanks to Jeff Silverman. Or that someone was crazy enough to actually manufacture the shoes from the 80s cult classic, Back to the Future!

Do try to save money in any way possible, even if it does involve renting an office without a drainpipe.

Don’t let your CEO buy salad on amazon.com at the expense of the company.

Do be prepared to work 10 hours a day for at least 6 days a week.

Don’t burn out.

Do have several sofas to sleep on for the weeks leading up to the deadline.

Don’t give yourself too much time. People will still leave everything to the last minute anyway.

Do remember to close your dormer windows open so your office doesn’t get flooded.

Don’t sit underneath badly fitted lamps.

Do stock up on milk, chocolate, tea and coffee.

Don’t keep ripe cheese in the refrigerator. It will stink forever!

Do find the most affordable printers in Europe, even if that involves travelling to Vilnius.

Don’t get stuck in traffic for five hours on your way to the airport just hours before the printing deadline.

Do be brave enough to call anyone, even the White House.

Don’t feel intimidated by bitchiness on the phone. Just make funny faces to your colleagues.

Do set your goals as high as is humanly possible.

Don’t expect them to stay that high.

My most admired vlogger of all time, the incredibly talented Levni Ylmaz, considered every option when he went to school but it didn’t help him much (see video below). Maybe he wouldn’t have been picked on so much if he had this:

Ernest and Niran met at university. Like many other people with entrepreneurial minds, they decided to start a blog in their spare time. A blog about art, music and fashion. Yes, another one. Except they’ve done it with a certain flair, a certain originality and voice. “I think it’s the design of the website that really attracts people,” Niran, who has also worked as a freelance designer for five years, says. For Ernest, however, it’s more about the name, “I think the name Yin and Yang draws people in. It’s really different and it makes people curious.”

But, the blog wouldn’t survive without the boys’ personality. After reading an article revealing that 80% of social media use a fake image, Niran is adamant that, “If I meet someone in real life who reads the blog, I’d want them to realise that it’s really me and my voice. Everything is genuine.” As a trained writer, Ernest can only agree. And the claims about being egotistical? “Well,” he says, “I think as a blogger you really need a certain sense of self-confidence behind your opinion, but we’re really, really humble.” After all, everyone has to start somewhere. “At first it was sort of intimidating approaching people just to have a chat, you really need to have that confidence. Or alcohol,” Niran says.

Only ten months since the blog’s launch, the boys have landed internships, attended to various launch events and established strong connections within London’s creative industry, one that they say is hard to get into without knowing someone. They’ve even had their fair share of stalkers — a girl once got a hold of Ernest’s number, sending him numerous messages while they were on a trip to New York.

… all in the life of a blogger!

The girls of the office can’t agree on the ideal hair length for men. Some of us think anything too long is repulsive, whereas the others are partial to the surfer dude look. Most of us agree though, that anything too long, is not so attractive. We even started discussing female hair. Josef, the only man in the office today, doesn’t find short hair sexy. Maybe it’s too often associated with “Mum Hair.”

Craft market shopping is rewarding as not only are you  supporting a worthy cause, but in a sense you share in the care and love that went into creating something unique. I know I pour my heart into my creations so the work is never easy, but very fulfilling.
